What Is The Taurus G2C?
Taurus has been around for a while and their reputation is…spotty. But the G2C is designed from the ground up to be a highly affordable compact CCW pistol – and it nails it.
Polymer frame, steel magazines holding 12-rounds of 9mm, easy to use sights, and slightly larger than the Sig P365 the G2C is on paper a great pistol.
An older version of the Taurus G3C, the G2C still has its perk. It’s cheaper for one (about $20-$30 cheaper than the G3C). But other than that, both guns are very similar with just minor differences or upgrades in the G3C. Check out our hands-on review of the G3C to see how it compares.
Who Is It For?
The compact size makes this a great concealed carry gun. Despite it’s smaller size, the mags had a pinky rest which still felt great for someone like me with bigger hands. The G2C makes a great home defense pistol because of it’s stellar reliability and 12-rounds 9mm capacity.

We do this for a number of reasons: 1) It’s cheap. 2) This is bottom tier ammo. Period. If a gun can run Wolf Steel, it can run anything.
Shockingly, the G2C ate every single round it was fed and never failed once.
Steel cased, brass cased, it didn’t matter since the G2C was able to run both flawlessly.
Fit & Feel
Since it’s designed to be a CCW the gun itself is a little small, so the fact that both magazines had pinky rests is a real boon to us that have larger hands.
The sights are simple and work, nothing to write home about but good enough to be minute of man at 7-yards.
3-dot sights are common and easy to use by basically everyone, but something you wouldn’t expect to see on a budget pistol is an adjustable rear sight! A nice plus that we don’t see too often.
A very tacky grip means it won’t slip in your hand and is one of the best aspects of the gun because of just how good they are!
In all…we really have nothing bad to say about the G2C. There is only two things that can be seen as possible negatives but they are both subjective.

1. Price: Coming in at around the $278 mark, this is a barebones price for a really good pistol. You really can’t find anything in the same price point that compares to the G2C – period.
2. Grip: Aggressively tacty, outstanding in the hand, really leads itself well to accuracy and control of the firearm.
3. It Works: Fed all kinds of ammo the G2C just ran and ran and ran. The number one most important thing in a CCW is that it is reliable and Taurus really nailed that part with this.
4. Aesthetics: It looks good, the style is nice, the branding is well done, there isn’t anything weird about it. It’s clean and simple.
5. Magazines: First of all, you get two of them in the box – awesome. And they are made from steel so they won’t be too prone to breaking. But really the best part is that both have pinky extensions right out of the box!

Possible Issues
Two things stand out about the G2C that we don’t love – the trigger and external safety.
External safeties in this day are becoming more and rarer but one can be found on the G2C. It also comes with internal safeties and a dongle on the trigger to prevent accidental discharges, so the external safety feels redundant and unnecessary.
The second (possible) issue is the trigger. It’s long, gritty, and mushy. But it isn’t the worst trigger in the world and it works. Plus, being so long and gritty makes it very difficult to accidentally set off – a major plus if you’re a newer CCW holder.
Neither of these holds us back though and in the grand scheme of things, we rate the Tarus G2C very highly!
What Sets it Apart?
The price is hard to beat but there are a few pistols on the market that are comparable. Glock 43X and Sig Sauer P365 are two. In comparing these guns, Taurus definitely gives the rest a run for their money given it has a higher capacity than both G43X and P365 and much cheaper. Size wise, the G2C sits between the two competitors with P365 being the most compact and G43X slightly longer. For concealment, P365 is a great option. But for home defense, I’d say the G2C wins out due to the higher capacity.
Upgrades
Honestly, where would we even be if not for upgrades? While it’s true there’s not too much you can do to the G2C, there’s always a little room for improvement!
Light
Every carry pistol needs a light — period. You never know what situations you’ll be facing down bad guys in, so you want to be able to see in any of them.
The Taurus G2C does have a little smidge of rail at the front to support a small pistol light. You can probably slap any compact light on there that you like, but we’re particularly fond of the Streamlight TLR 6.

I’ve seen other reviewers have some minimal trouble from the G2C, but my sample size of one is a friggin’ TANK. It’s unstoppable.
Ergonomics: 4/5
I wish I could grip a little higher on the frame, but the texture is great and the angle is fine. The safety lever is as well-placed as any gun on the market.
Accuracy: 4/5
That crunchy trigger will do you no favors at the range, but overall the accuracy is fine. You can put shots on a torso target no sweat.

Conclusion
The Taurus G2C is a very affordable CCW pistol with a high 12+1 capacity and great reliability (so far) but still suffers from a long and gritty trigger, external safety, and possibly the brand for some.
Plenty of guys will say you should just save more money and buy a better brand firearm.
Yeah, maybe.
But for folks on a budget, the option to get a reliable gun with 12+1 capacity at this price is simply too good to ignore. The G2C has earned its place in the market.

I bought one last year on sale along with a $25 rebate .....less than 200 out the door. I've had zero issues with it and I have done a few upgrades (trigger, guide rod assembly). It's basic but it does the job.
I'm a new shooter of the Taurus G2C and the recoil is giving me problems do you have any suggestions on how to prevent me from getting my thumb hit by the recoil..

I really love my C2C. The only problem I've had is, it's difficult to rack a round. Not sure if something's loose or worn out. I got mine for $114, can't expect everything but was hoping to get a little better. If anyone has run into this please contact me with your idea how to solve my problem. Tks. Jeff

My local Academy Sports and Outdoors was clearing out some G2C inventory and had two cyan/black models left at $199.99. I was really not a fan of this bright blue, "toy looking" pistol. Considering however that you get 5% off by using an Academy Card, that there is a $25 rebate on these right now, and that (at least in my state) the transfer doc fee is included in the gun purchase, I got the G2C out the door for less than $179... sold!
Given today's gun crazy market, this is a no-brainer purchase for a firearm that will be reliable, offer a lifetime warranty, is relatively easy to conceal and is chambered for a caliber that can effectively stop an assailant. Don't like the "toyish" looking blue cyan lower? There is a great video on youtube on how to dye the lower (boiling water, pot, $3 worth of RIT clothing dye), or spend a couple extra bucks and get the flat dark earth/black option. It does cost about $25 more, BUT you get three mags instead of two, and the mag alone is worth $30 so you still aren't out anything by "upgrading" to that color model.
I've carried a Wilson Combat that is worth ten of these G2C's, and I still have no problem carrying and depending on the little Taurus. It is a great little gun and a quick search of online reviews from many of us who have handled numerous firearms will attest to the same. Give it a shot!

Gucci Glock? Is that any different than the other Glocks that are nothing but junk? The G2C is a JOKE. Too small. Trigger that is useless. Two safeties? Why? .9mm? No way. People will NOT practice with the gun. False sense of security.
Steel is REAL. Buy a real gun folks.
"Too small" - It is an EDC, CCW piece. Not everyone wants a full size, and from all of the guns I have shot, this size is about perfect for small enough to conceal yet large enough to afford a proper and full grip.
"Two safeties? Why?" - Speaking for myself, I like the fact that the slide safety not only prevents gun from being fired, but it also prevents the slide from being moved out of battery until ready to shoot. For anyone used to the old "cocked and locked", the slide safety is an old friend and perfect fit on this gun.
".9mm? No way." - Why? Popular, cheap to shoot (comparatively), capable of stopping an assailant effectively, and used across platforms so you can have a Taurus, Sig, S&W, Springfield, Kahr, Glock, etc and not have to have different ammo for each firearm. The fact that YOU do not care for 9mm just puts you in the minority. It is also apparent that nothing on this gun, even when popular or common, is going to please you anyway.
"False sense of security." - Why? It is a reliable, concealable piece in a large enough caliber to be effective. Nothing false about that.
"Steel is REAL." - I have a full steel 1911 in 9mm and a G2C polymer/steel in 9mm and can tell you, both shoot real bullets, and they shoot them real well.
"Buy a real gun folks." - AKA, "Buy the gun I think is the best." Sure, send me the money and I will happily buy a gun you approve of. Until then, I think I will determine how best to spend my money. Speaking of money, just picked up a G2C "out the door" for $178.76 after Taurus rebate. That includes tax, transfer fee, everything! What "real gun" would you rather I spent my money on? Keep in mind, it has to be new, reliable, name brand, lifetime warranty and with two magazines.... Keep trying, you can't.
I have both the G2C and it's grandfather, the PT-111 Pro. I own numerous steels including a 1911, a 92 and 75. I have no issue with the G2C or the PT-111 Pro being my EDC pistols, they are well worth the cost, size and purpose they were designed for.
To be fair, it is not perfect. Most of my other guns do not have the "safety trigger" that Glock has used for years, they style with the blade in the middle that has to be depressed. This has led to me learning to pull the trigger centered on the joint of my finger, not my finger pad. With a trigger blade safety like this, the trigger has a double "break" as I barely engage the safety blade enough as it sits in that valley of my finger joint. That is what practice is for. There is no substitute for practice and familiarity before relying on it to protect one's life and property.
This is not a poser gun, it is not some flashy chromed out showpiece that is always shown being fired in that infamous "sideways" grip. This is a tool, a tool designed to work reliably and accurately. On that front, it is most definitely a real gun and capable of fulfilling its purpose in the hands of many. That probably explains why I now own three.
Look. The people that buy this "junk" never practice. The gun is TOO small forthe average "EDC" newbie to hit anything but himself, er, herself. I have lots of "tools" I am also a retired Marine, 30years, all infantry, and you are simply pandering to nut jobs that believe everything that comes from your mouth. Yep I have more than a few showpieces. However I never do the "sideways" grip that you seem to intimate that I do. I have more experience running and gunning than you but no experience being a sanctimonious gun writer. The gun SUCKS.

Now... "The people that buy this "junk" never practice." The price of this gun affords itself to many potential owners. I do not fault the gun for the deficiencies of the owners who choose not to practice. They practice because they are inexperienced, not because the gun does not let them or does not run reliably.
I know how many rounds I have put down range with my PT-111 Pro/G2C/G3C's in addition to my other tools. I know how they have been used: as truck guns, submerged, run through the dirt/sand/mud, etc. I know how often they have been cleaned and how often they have been run dirty. I know how often they've been run well-oiled and how many times they've been run dry. I know how they compare to many, many other firearms I have owned/built/borrowed in my years and I know that I would trust my life to one. I am not parroting online opinion or sentiment. What I speak comes from personal experience, as it appears yours does as well.
Which leads me to my final question:
With your experience and knowledge exceeding mine by your own assumption, Dale, what do you recommend for everyday carry?
I rotate. Beretta 92x GSR, 3 different Sig's, a Dan Wesson and a Springfield Ronin commander that has been all tricked out. If I had my choice I would carry M240B. Kidding on the M40. I doubt it is an assumption. The little pesky pistols are more dangerous to those who carry them than the bad guy.
I have been shooting snce I was 8. Im now 68. Ive handled just about everything made. The G2C is hardly 'junk' I took my 27 year old daughter who has never fired a gun and she shot 2 to 3 inch groups with it right off the bat. Its never failed a single time regardless of ammo.. Tell you what, at 15 yards you can shoot a perp with your $2,000 hand gun and it wont do any more damage than the little G2C. Sanctimonious writer? Hardly. Sanctimonious retired Marine? Hmmmmm
Hey Dale, I can see you're really passionate about this topic. I get it. Not every gun is going to be a fave. This is just Johnny B's opinion on this gun and what we thought after testing. No sanctimony here, just an opinion. It sounds like you have some other great options you prefer, and that's awesome!
Sir, eith respect to your 30 years of service. I practice with my g2c at least once a week. At 20ft I can empty both magazines and all being kill shots on targets in less than 15sec without trying real hard. The gun is not junk as you say, nor am I a nut job. The g2c is a work horse as I have shot thousands of rounds through it. For that reason, I depend on it as a ccw and/or home defense. I would proudly hang this wepon on my wall as a trophy. I will agree with you as I never use sideways grip. I would put this "junk" gun up against your trophies any day of the week. Oh-yeh I have never shot my self or anything I haven't intended to. I guess the Marines didn't teach you how to respect others, or you have forgotten how to
I have a g2c out of box hate the trigger but for about 30 you can fix that, bought a Sao short stroke trigger from keep tinkering and love the gun now, as far as external safety, I've trained my mind a long time ago from other weapons on that problem.
I've had mine for about a year. Fired about 100 rounds with NO issues. I don't have a problem with Taurus.
There are also 17 round mags available for this fine economic pistol. Much like Johnny, I have run over 2000 rounds through mine without a failure. Now that they are made in Bainbridge GA. Every Taurus I sampled from this factory has been a unicorn.
Just recently purchased a 856 revolver. Can wait to get back to the range. Forget about the past. These guns are the best thing going right now.
I was hot to trot for a Glock 43. Rented one and went away unsure if I liked it. Read about the Taurus G2C but couldn't rent one, range said they were cheap and dangerous. Bought a G2C for $212, rented the G43 again and did a side by side comparison. Chose the Taurus.
My wife and I both like and trust our G2c pistols. Utterly reliable, easy to shoot and safe to carry without the safety engaged due to the trigger action, I carry mine daily and shoot it weekly and I haven't had a single feeding/reliability issue no matter the ammo I use. I also have a G2s for deep conceal pocket carry. Great guns.
I don't have a g2c, but my p111 g2 doesn't like steel cases, and can be damaged by dry firing. It spent a month or so at Taurus being repaired.
Please think twice before purchasing this brand name and model. I bought this gun from Grady's on May 1, 2021 and tried to shoot the gun for the first time two weeks ago. The magazine was loaded correctly and the safety was off?!!! When I took the gun back to Grady's, the sales representative determined that the extractor claw was messed up and it had a wrong spring. The bottom line is that Taurus produced a bad gun which SHOULD have been checked and fired before leaving the manufacturer. Moreover, what is worse is that the manufacturer needs us to take it back to Grady's and have them ship it back to them for a $45.00 shipping fee. Taurus offers a lifetime warranty but I don't think that the customer should have to pay for any costs on defective guns!!!
My son purchased one for cc. I have trained more people (law enforcement) to shoot, be able to wire up an open sight AR at 300 yards.
Needless to say, I am extremely discerning about my carry weapon. I have actually drawn down, drawn in search and dozens of "other circumstances".
I want tough, reliable, instant site acquisition, intuitive site acquisition, absolutely perfect grip (formerly bought my grips custom), weight, firepower...I could go on and on.
This is a top shelf pistol. I liked my son's so much, I wanted to buy one. I ended up with the next incarnation; G3C. Small, subtle changes.
This is absolutely my go to ccw.

I don't care what you spend on a gun. I have handguns that cost thousands of dollars and they malfunction. My G2 is rock solid. Did you fire the gun a few hundred times before you gave it to your kid?
As long as it goes bang every time I pull the trigger I don’t have a problem. I am going to get a G2C or a G3C next time I find one in stock.
I have a Kodak patriot 45 that I like but it will only feed round ball dependably. The new 9mm defense rounds are great and the 9mm practice ammo is super cheap.
Bought this gun and it's trash. many have good experiences with them but mine would not fire out of the box. trigger pull not not firing. Called taurus and was told to send it back but a 12+ week turn around time on a gun i couldn't get 20 rounds through brand new. For any nay sayers, i stopped trying to fire it after multi fail to fire or firng after the trigger is released. The range officer, a NRA certified arms instructor asked why i was leaving so soon since it wa less that 20 mins since i started. I explained the issues i was having, that i changed mags, bullet types and makes, cleared and rechanbered but still so many issues. He asked if i would mind him looking at the weapon and i said sure and loaded up a new mag for him. He went to fire, pulled the trigger and click. Pulled again and not even a click. Removed mag, cleared round, reinserted the click and chamberd a round , if fired and the next pull click and than discharged after the trigger was released. He unloaded, cleared the chamber, set the gun down and said " There is something wrong with this weapon and should not be fired again because it is unsafe to use". That is new , out of the box, less than 20 rounds. Taurus says pretty much, to bad, send it back and in 3 or so months you will get it back. The shop i bought it from offfered me less than half of what i paid for it to take ot back stating , it's now a used gun and we would have to send it back to Taurus ourselves. If you had good luck with this gun, great, but in my experience, stay away and spend a bit more for something else. Heck even less for a Hi-Point. They look and feel like tour shooting a hammer, but the work. Something I cannot say about the G2c
This was my first handgun purchase about a year ago. My first time at the range, I had a stovepipe on probably the second round through it, but I attributed this to limp-wristing due to inexperience. I changed my grip and about a thousand rounds later, have yet to have another failure. I have absolutely no regrets. I have acquired 3 more handguns since then and it is currently my preferred concealed carry weapon.
Upgrade the trigger from Keeptinkering, and upgrade the striker guide to stainless steel from Lakeline, all the trigger problems go away, increasing th customization score (4 triggers to choose from).

Liked the review! The price point is attractive to me. I've owned a Tarus tactical 24/7 in 40 cal. for several years and have had no issues with it. I think the G2C might be for me.
I don't put much stock in gun snobbery, so I trusted the reviews of this gun and not the down-the-nose looks Taurus gets. I should've listened to the snobs. The mag release spring failed with a single day of normal handling, before I ever had a chance to fire this gun. I sent it in to Taurus after sitting on hold with them for waaaay longer than is to be reasonably expected, and it's been languishing in their clutches ever since. Just going by memory, I think it's been like 6 weeks or more.
As I said, I'm no snob. I owned a Kel-Tec P11, another budget 9, and the thing never gave me any problems. It just went bang every time I pulled the trigger (and P.S., trigger, schmigger, I never had any problems hitting soda bottles at 50', which is more than accurate enough for an SD pistol IMO).
I like the Underdog, and Yeah the sub 300.00 price really peaks my interest , I have a 111g2 and a G2c plus 709 all with KT triggers , Now waiting for the G3c to become available again, , I have Sigs, Bersa's, Ruger's , Honor Defense , sorry no Glocks they just dont fit my hands well , its the Trigger reach ,for me uncomfortable , and with Now the way all this craziness is, I want all of My gun dollars to go Farther for more ammo ,That Is why they are not staying on the Shelves at all!! the are at the Right Price point ! and a very Good Gun ! It would seem that that biggest complaint is that it has the name Taurus stamped on it. I will freely admit that I was skeptical at first - but after having shot it, I have to say, if you did a blind test (if one was possible), I suspect your negatives would disappear.
As for me, I like having the external safety. I'm just old school that way.

I've owned a GC2 for a year now and bought mine as a hiking gun as well. I hike at a minimum, once a week for 5 miles, and up to 5 times a week for a total of 30-40 miles in all weather to include rain. This gun stays holstered on my hip at all times and at all times is dirty. I just run 200 rounds through mine after not cleaning or lubing it since i bought it. Highly recommended.
I was very skeptical buying a Taurus but I am happy with the G2, perfect for concealed carry and it just feels right in my hands. I've no issues with misfires as of yet. I've tried many different types of ammo and again as of yet no issues. Maybe Taurus is trying to change their game. As far as price you can't go wrong with this gun for self protection on a budget.
Taurus is so full of shit it's not funny their firearms are ok not good but not bad either but their service sucks I lost a spring when cleaning my judge sent it in was told it would take 6 to 12 weeks been 9 months now still havent got it back called 4 times first 2 they said would call me back within 48 hrs never called back 2and to times was told would receive my firearm with in next 7 days 40 days later still haven't received or ben able to connect with them
No, you didn't. How do you loose a Spring?
Not only does Brownells not have this gun in stock, now... they have not sold it for $220 since this posting was posted. Now that the G3c is coming available for a reasonable $35 bump in MSRP, I suspect that the G2c won't come down, and very few if any sellers will discount the gun. Compared to any other gun on the market, the G3c may be worth paying the full MSRP.

Buy local and save the mailing and background fee. I purchased mine in '19 for $222 at tri state outfitters in Moscow Idaho. It was cheaper than anywhere online and the background fee was covered by them because it was purchased there. It is same price currently.
I had bought my g2c as a backpack gun for hiking, my thoughts are if I lost it it would not be a big deal for the money. I am a sig man with most models mostly elites, this Taurus is fast becoming one of my favorites because it runs flawlessly and is extremely fun to shoot, and lastly it's crazy accurate, you almost have to try to miss. It carries nicely, its light, and living in the mountains at 5500 ft, it's been dropped once or twice. Taurus hit a home run with this, I have the pt96 as well and that runs flawlessly as well but very heavy. I have just ordered 5 more for my 5 grown children for household protection, that's how much I love and trust the G2c. Thanks Taurus!
Why buy a more expensive pistol? I have a Browning High power have had S&W 39 & 59 & colts, Rugers and Still own a 92 beretta but this one will shoot with them all! No it is not a Glock or Sig but it is still a superb buy for the money. I have two G2’s and I love to shoot the and carry one every day♂️

I picked up the G2C about 4 months ago. Had many misfeed and misfires throughout my shooting it. I sent it back to Taurus for repairs, but am told it will take at least 3 months for repair. Trying to reach their customer service is a nightmare - had to wait 30+ minutes several times before they picked up.
I do like the ergonomics and feel of the gun. The grip is especially nice. The sights, though, are polymer and pretty fragile. I replaced them with TruGlo night sights. Made a very big difference in sight picture and tactical shooting.
All in all given the misfires and misdeeds I really don’t trust it as a life depends on it concealed carry. Hoping that after it’s repaired I will change my view. And - hoping I don’t have to wait 3 months for it to be returned to me.

I bought this pistol as a bogo (6 shooter deal) at Academy in Nov. 2019 and have put maybe 500 rounds of different types and brands and so far it has been flawless and the trigger gets better after a few hundred rounds.
I find the G2c exceptionally well made for the amazing low price. Rather than "doing without" while saving up for a higher quality gun I recommend buying this one to carry while you save to buy that next step up. I have several Glocks, love them all, carry them shoot them and I bought this one because at the time just liked the look and feel, and the price of it, been carrying it in a buffalo belt slide holster from Walmart for 6 months. I've put about 400 rounds through it with zero malfunctions of any kind. Other than the external safety and long first stroke it is more gun than I've ever owned for the spare change it cost!

Actually, it was a step-up for me! I replaced by Keltec P11 with this Taurus, and I really like it. I am thinking about getting an extended mag with a spacer (my pinkie still hangs off the end).
I replaced the trigger one mine with one from Keep Tinkering for $30 shipped. Made a world of difference. Took about half of the take up out. Also put a stainless striker guide and recoil assembly from lakeline llc. Took the grit right out of the trigger.
Well, the review pretty much sums it up. The 2 negatives were both subjective and the 5 positives were just that. Does it go bang when you pull the trigger? If the answer is yes, why spend $300-$400 more on another brand that does the exact same thing? I'll leave the over-payments for the gun brand snobs. I just purchased a G2C for $179 and I'll get another $25 rebate. That's $154 for a reliable 9mm, 12 round capacity carry gun...I'm surprised I didn't buy two.

Got it in 9mm and is a FANTASTIC carry pistol!!! 100% flawless!
Have a G2C and it predecessor the PT111 G2. Probably 2500 rds. down pipe of G2 and near 1000 through G2C. Mostly cheap brass including some 25 year-old Norinco. Zero failures to feed or extract. A few of the old hard primer Norinco rounds required multiple primer hits (happens with other gun brands too) but guess what, the "lousy" trigger on both guns allows for that. Once you get used to wall on the trigger and 500 rds. of break-in there are a lot worse triggers on a lot more expensive guns, M&P comes to mind. If you have more money spend it but if your budget is tight and you'd rather save your money for ammo, just buy it.
I bought this gun for CCW. At around $200, it's considered a "cheaper" pistol but it doesn't sacrifice anything with regard to reliability, comfort, or accuracy. Sure, you can spend three times as much for a similar gun... but why? Pride? Brand loyalty? Pre-conceived Taurus quality issues from the past?
For me, CCW pistols are tools, not status symbols or collector guns. The Taurus G2C is a solid tool.

Well said! Kia and Hyundai's were crap cars in the beginning as well but thru new management and better R&D, they now produce quality vehicles! Same goes with Taurus. Gun snobs will tell you that if it ain't Glock, S&W, Walther, etc...you're wasting your time and money! I'll put my G2C and G3 up against them all! It goes bang, grouping is tight, spits out whatever you feed it and it looks damn good! (Not to mention, it's my Zodiac sign! lol)
Perfect. I bought my Taurus PT92 in 1999. I finally took it to the range again this year and it works like a charm, after almost 20 years. Don't dismiss a good pistol because if its name.
I would not put my G2C up against Glock, S&W, Walther, etc. I’ve had too many issues and Taurus’ repair service needs an overhaul. I also had to replace the G2C’s polymer sights because they damaged way too easily. I bought a Walther Creed for nearly the same money and while it’s on the low end of the Walther spectrum, the quality and reliability far exceeds the Taurus..

Everyone and anyone an an does build an occasional "Lemon". I have not been a Big nor Small Taurus fan. I never really handled them maybe one or two over the years. One a revolver that was a S&W clone an had no issues with it the other was a Taurus that I forget the model but was definitely a sub compact and it no issues either.
That being said, I am a BIG Ruger fan among others.
I have carried .380 ACP for many years before the Sub compact 9mms came about....AMT made a subcompact .380 called "The Back-Up" and it was definitely too small for my hand.....They also made a tiny .45 ACP that was also too small for my hand.
I saw the Taurus G2c and for the price I could not go wrong on buying one. With the rebate it was around $155.00 Plus tax after the $25.00 rebate.....So far it has performed much better than I ever expected! It has always went bang. NO malfunctions of any kind. Groups better than I ever imagined it would.
I am not out to shoot National Matches with it! It works for my purposes and my wants and needs. It fits my hands and is pleasant to shoot.
Apparently it also does for the majority of people that have bought an shot them.
It carries ALMOST TWICE the ammo of my .380 ACP and easy to carry.
I can and do understand your opinion and feelings and being "Once Bitten and being Twice Shy."
BUT that does not mean they don't deserve a Second Chance....just like any other manufactured item.....and especially with so many that have had such positive experiences with the G2c.
It seems you are happy with your Walther and as long as you are happy and confident and it fits your needs in what you carry, is reliable, and you can shoot it accurately is what matters the most.
Unfortunately the G2c that you got is one of those occasional Lemons. That seems to be quite rare compared to the vast majority of G2c owners.....

I was gone buy one, than I seen a video that when you drop the gun it goes off, also without having your finger on the trigger and your hand is shaking it goes off. Now I am concerned.
Heidi. Don't be concerned...the gun is very safe and won't go of unless you depress the trigger. Spend time at the range and build proficient and confidence. Find a shooting buddy and enjoy the sport. Carry with confidence. Be safe.
For those of you who don’t like the long pull of the trigger but want to keep the reset my advice is check out KeepTinkering on eBay. He also has a YouTube channel that explains the G2C functionality better than any Taurus customer service rep ever could do.

Recently purchased a G2C in .40 Cal. I LOVE this gun. Functions great. Very concealable. Feels good in the hand. Plus, it is accurate! Best of all was the price! I may buy another.

Had mine for almost a year now and it’s a work horse. No jams or malfunctions, eats everything I can find in 9mm to shoot in it. Only slightly larger and heavier than the Sig 365, BUT ya get 12 rounds, not 10 and it’s a single/double, so restrike capability!
So, add that and the fact you can buy almost 3 G2C for only 1 Sig 365 and you’ve got a winner!
I bought my G2c a few months ago. It's accurate af. The only thing that jams is Winchester white box. I absolutely LOVE this gun.
I've noticed that with Winchester white box as well. If you look at the bullet when you extract it, you'll probably notice the casing is bent where the bullet seats into it. I had six out of a box of 100 and all of them had bent casings.
My EDC is the G2C. I like everything about it.... could it be improved? Sure! But America has become a "Land of Perfection" where it used to be "Good Enough!". The G2C is MORE than "Good Enough!" and I would really HATE to use a $1,000 Kimber in a self-defense action and have some moron tell me to "Drop IT!", then KEEP IT until doomsday in impound for "Forensics" until some other clown makes it disappear from the Evidence Locker. Nuff Said?

I own a G2C and simply love it, not only to carry but to shoot. It easy to carry and conceal. It is also easy to clean. The price is right and I would own this before I would by a glock.
I bought one for my wife for her first cc, and after shooting hers, I just had to pick one up myself. I've put close to 3000 rounds through it of all kinds, brass, steel, aluminum, and have never had a jam. This is light weight, easy to conceal (thanks we the people for the perfect formed holster) and reliable. The trigger for me took a little getting used to, but once I did, there was no coming back, I'm hooked on my everyday beauty!
Why does everyone complain about the manual safety? If you don’t like it don’t use it other than that it’s a good gun. The manual safety on this gun is easy to use and doesn’t move unwanted like some other higher brands. The trigger is also something people complain about which in my use wasn’t an issue. Your not going to notice the trigger when an attacker tries to get you because in a self defense shooting your not trying to feel a crisp precise pull. This is a blue collar carry gun not a silver spoon range toy. Nuff said folks
You still gotta train to flip the safety even if you don't like using it. While highly unlikely it's still possible to accidently flip it either way which is why I don't like them. If you can't change the fact that you still gotta follow the basics of firearm safety then why have something that can lul you into a sense of safety. Same reason I won't buy a self driving car till you're legally allowed to go to sleep behind the wheel. Lol

I'm surprised about the steel ammo working. I had one, had 3 rnds of tula require manual cycling and the 4th fatally jammed in the chamber. I sliced my hand open trying to umlodge the case and finally at home had to slam a cleaning rod down the barrel multiple times. Armslisted it and got a M&P.
The lacquer that's used to coat the casing is what causes the shell to stick once the barrel gets hot after a few rounds. I've noticed the problem several times on multiple guns (yes even Beretta, CZ, Sig, etc). If you plan on running steel cased ammo just to save a few bucks, keep some synthetic motor oil handy and just coat the inside of the barrel good before you run steel thru it.
I bought a G2C about a year ago. I have run about 1200 rounds through it with NO malfunctions of any kind! The trigger is great after you learn how to use it. I find that the only "long " pull is the 1st one to defeat the trigger safety. After that, the reset is very short and audible so there is no need to release it all the way until you are finished shooting the magazine. It's my daily carry, and I like having a safety when I carry with one in the chamber! Great gun!
I love the G2C and I also bought its little brother the G2S single stack. I have put steel ammo through them both and as you heard from the review not one failure. I found that they both make you have good trigger control by using the pad of your finger and not the joint. If you use the first joint and not the pad of your finger they both give you a gritty feel. These guns just run and are comfortable to shoot all day. Fit and finish are great as well. When you pull the trigger they go bang and hit where you are aiming. Mine are in 9mm. I recommend them.
I CCL and, I've had my G2C for a year and a half, have run ...who knows... hundreds of rounds through it. I have 9 or 10 other carry guns to choose from but, for light weight, accuracy, reliability, disappears in my IWB holster, etc. every time I get enamored by a beautiful gun I stick it in my belt and then, ...put the G2C back where it belongs. Every now and then, I take it out to the farm, beat the s&&t out of it. I'm a lefty (the left hand is connected to the right side of the brain and the right hand is connected, obviously, to the ...wrong side of the brain) and, the mag release retainer, sear and hammer pins are rusted from the summer sweat. I smear them with grease from time to time, lube the slide and "patch" the lint out of the barrel. I'm really skinny and, it fits under my rib cage (where the beer belly should be). I'm wearing shorts, a t-shirt (offensive) and the G2C right now.
Me again, took my girlfriend (we're OLD) out to the farm. She discovered that an AR does NOT spew thousands of "child killing bullets" per second (declared it "fun"), sliced her thumb open with a TCP and, rang steel with her new G2C at 20yds. The G2C is a good gun!
Currently have a gun in for the Taurus recall / class action. Had compact gun they want to replace with sub compact sub par gun. Terrible company dont recommend anyone do business with them!
What did they want to do? I've never had a problem with Taurus.... how many guns do you own? Gun people tend to be very kind, patient and understanding but, can be eccentric and are very, very touchy about safety. What is a "sub compact sub par gun"? I have a couple of guns with recalls but they don't involve anything I would ever do (the Ruger 22/45 safety issue - I don't use the safety-my safety is in my head). Maybe they don't like you???? I'm really touchy about who I hand a gun to....
If you expect guns to be like a MrCoffee or Waring Blender, buy a Glock. Don't ever mess with a 1911.
I have one and carry it often. Cost was not an issue, and I like it better than my Walther for the feel in my hand. I have fired enough different kinds of pistols that I can deal with the trigger. So far only about 2,000 rounds through it and not 1 single failure no matter what I feed it. Even my Springfield XD has failed twice. It was very dirty.
I bought both the 9mm and the 40s&w. Both are comfortable and light for cc. The 40s&w still holds 10+1. I bought both for under $500 with shipping!
Have had it for almost 2 years now... over 2500 rounds and never skips a beat.
I own two of these. I bought the first from a family member out of desperation because we had a break in. I ended up liking the pistol enough to buy another when my local shop ran a sale. The new one is my EDC and the other lives in the bedroom. I've put maybe 5 or 600 rounds through my first pistol and it has only failed on maybe 3 rounds. All cheap ammo. The second has around 200 rounds through it and has operated flawlessly. Hell, I may get a third. It's a good gun regardless of price.
the crunchy feel in the trigger is the plastic striker guide..(a leftover from the original millennium when they had the frame lock key) .. if you install a stainless guide from lakeline llc, that goes away completely..

Recently had my 3rd daughter so i added tup my collection. Bought a Sig P320 357 with night sights for $580.
Which i like but honestly, i turned around and upgraded my wife's Taurus .380 to the G2C 9mm for $159; Then I bought the G2C 40cal to replace my Taurus Millennium which I'd used as my CCW for the last 5 years.
I've never had a problem with Taurus and over the past 21 years have bought a little of everything just to see what suits me. I like my Sig but i think I paid for the name. Already eyeing a Ruger 45 next. Why be loyal to a brand, get what works for you... and Taurus works for me.

Check out lakelinellc for a good bit of parts for the g2c. They have new sights recoil springs guide rods striker guides made of steel and some other things. I have some of them on mine and they work well
The parent company of Smith and Wesson bought Tarus a few years back they fired management and brought in machinists and new management from Smith and Wesson the new G2's are of the same quality as M and P's, not the junk that Tarus used to produce. New company lousy old name.
In 1971, the Bangor Punta Corporation, then the parent company of Smith & Wesson, purchased 54 percent of Forjas Taurus, allowing the two firearms manufacturers to easily share information regarding design and manufacturing. In 1977, Taurus was purchased from Bangor Punta by its current owners, and its ties to Smith & Wesson were severed.
I personally have sold over 600 to 800 of these guns and only had 1 returned with problems. Taurus replaced it for the customer with no questions ask. I have also purchased one it it runs with any ammo I feed it.

Got one on sale for $185 with a $25 rebate from Taurus. Took it to the range and loved it. Thrown every thing at it with no problems. I’ve always figured if I had to pull my concealed carry weapon consider it gone so I’d rather carry a $165 weapon than a $500 Sig.

I love mine, it’s my EDC. I also have a shield, and it’s good as well, but I find myself using the G2C far more. I just bought the G2S, and am yet to fire it, but am really looking forward to it.
Picked one up at Cabelas two weeks ago on sale for $199 before tax couldn't be happier with the purchase! Just recieved my stainless recoil assembly from LakeLine. For the moment my G2C is replacing my M&P 9 2.0 compact for my CCW. I am sure it's just a matter of time before my wife will either take my G2C or make me get another for her.

I have the G2. The trigger needed worked a bit. I hand polished it up greased it. Gritty went way down. Not my best shooter or favorite but I have several hundred rounds through it of LAX low end ammo and had one issue on my first magazine and zero after that. The pop was a little light so I assumed it was a light load.
Also, I completely agree that it is a great option and I do kinda have a natural affinity towards it. I am not trading away my Glocks but for a CCW that I store somewhere, this is the gun.
I love my G2C. It’s my truck gun. Got it for $185 after rebate. Fed all kinds of ammo and it ran perfectly. Steel case, brass case, cheap or expensive ammo didn’t make a difference. Still carry my Shield .45 as a ccw though. But I won’t hesitate to buy another one for the wife when she wants one. Plus it comes in MANY color configurations.
I don't have one, but I am definitely going to take a look at one. For a concealable pistol or a as a backup, all I need it to do is function. As far as the packaging, I wouldn't care if it came in a plastic bag. It'll be kept in a pistol case when not in a holster anyway. So, who cares about packaging?
I own this little dream. I did have problems with Armscor 9mm Luger 115gr. Like, ALOT of problems. 3 or more failures per mag level. The slide would sit back about 1/8". It also didn't want to rack properly. Switch out the ammo to Winchester 9mm NATO 124gr and Remington 9mm Luger 115gr and it ran perfectly after that. Would very much recommend to those on a budget. Just don't go cheap on the ammo.
I recently got an email blast that had them under $170. I almost went for one just to see if it works as my Tarus experience has not been the best. Kinda wish I had
I really like my G2C. I have no complaints about it. Do I like it better than my S&W 9 Shield? Absolutely not! I like my Shield better, but I bought the G2C because of the higher capacity in a gun that's about the same size. I'm satisfied with the G2C.
Pretty sure my next purchase will be for my wife, this one looks tempting... so Johnny said his giant hands make the mag release a bit awkward, so this should be good for smaller hands?
I bought the Sig Saur P238 for my wife. I can put up with a trigger that isn't "perfect", but I wouldn't want that for my wife. So yeah, I spoil her.

Johnny: It takes time to get used to the trigger. I like the external safety. Lakeline LLC has upgrades for around $50 that make the G2C function like a fine sewing machine. It also can handle +P loads but DO NOT use +P+ in this firearm. Now all law abiding citizens can afford to conceal carry for personal protection. I like your proper grip of this pistol utilizing your left index finger in FRONT of the trigger guard for better control. I would recommend Speer Gold Dot 124 grain+P ammo for this gun!
The fact that it has an external safety is actually a good thing. Too many people have shot them selves in the leg or the foot because they didn’t have an external safety and we’re relying on that goofy trigger.
Granted, the fact that the trigger pool is a bit long might actually save a few of those issues from happening. Really though it’s just a matter of brain and muscle memory. You reach for your gun and start to pull it from the holster, the safety comes off as the gun clears the holster. It’s just a matter of training. That said, you could say the same thing about that goofy trigger and no external safety.
Are we catching the theme that I don’t like that goofy trigger?
